From Research to Society – and Back
Early-career researchers are invited to submit paper proposals for the international workshop From Research to Society – and Back: Critical Approaches in Archaeology and Ancient History. Gender, Postcolonialism, Community Engagement, and New Narratives, to be held in Macerata in the first week of November 2026.
The workshop explores how research in gender, postcolonial, public, and community archaeology does not stop at interpretation of the past — but actively reshapes teaching practices, public narratives, heritage management, and community relations, and is itself transformed through these interactions. Four thematic sessions will be opened by invited keynote speakers: Astrid Van Oyen (Radboud University), Francesco Ripanti (University of Birmingham), Chiara Bonacchi (University of Edinburgh), and Eugenio Farioli Vecchioli (RAI).
The call is open to PhD students, post-doctoral researchers, and fixed-term and untenured researchers. Contributions addressing the workshop’s themes from interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary perspectives are especially encouraged.
Deadline: 17th August 2026
Notification of acceptance: 15th September 2026
Submissions to: resarchsociety@gmail.com
The full call for papers, including session descriptions, is available in the PDF document
